Middle School Study Guide: MATH 6th-8th
Join our middle school study guide math class and learn from a teacher who loves
math!
This class is great for students to strengthen their understanding of core
middle-school math concepts in a supportive and encouraging small-group
environment.Using The Complete Middle School Study Guide: Everything You Need to Ace Math
in One Big Fat Notebook as our guide, each week we will work through concepts in a
progressive, step-by-step format, ensuring that students can grow steadily from one
lesson to the next. Students will build confidence through guided instruction, guided
practice, collaborative problem-solving, and in-class activities that reinforce
understanding in an engaging way. We will go at their pace but our hope is to cover
some of the following topics:
- Review of key number properties, negative and positive numbers
- Whole numbers, absolute value
- Factors and greatest common factor
- Multiples and least common multiple
- Introduction to fractions, adding and subtracting fractions
- Multiplying and dividing fractions
- Adding and subtracting decimals
- Multiplying and dividing decimals
- Adding positive and negative numbers
- Subtracting positive and negative numbers
- Multiplying and dividing positive and negative numbers
This class is great for students as both an introduction or review on these topics and get support and enrichment in math within a friendly, collaborative and encouraging environment!
By the end of the semester, students will have reviewed some of the concepts in these key topics and be ready to continue into later units or more advanced math concepts.
