Join us in our journey through one of the most complete Social Sciences: Archaeology
This is the the best combination of History and Science where students will discover ancient worlds and all the clues our ancestors left behind, it could be a small bone or a whole building!
This class is great for students to strengthen their understanding of middle-school science concepts that help archaeologist to uncover how people lived long ago.
Using the Usborne Introduction to Archaeology, each week we will work through concepts in a progressive, step-by-step format, ensuring that students can grow steadily from one
lesson to the next. They will be encouraged to make presentations with my guidance and help.
Students will build confidence through guided instruction, guided practice, collaborative problem-solving, and in-class activities that reinforce understanding in an engaging way. We will go at their pace but our hope is to cover
some of the following topics:
- How things survive time (some mummified, some got preserved in muddy waters, tar, underground, ice, water)
- We will travel around all continents in search of early people and visit ancient sites while learning about famous archaeologist.
- How things were recorded in ancient times
- How archaeology helps us put all these puzzles together with seasonal dating, historical dating and radioactive dating
By the end of the semester, students will have reviewed some of the concepts in these key topics and be ready to continue into later units or more advanced science concepts.
- WHAT YOUR STUDENT NEEDS TO BRING:
