"As merry as the day is long."
(Beatrice, Much Ado About Nothing)
In this class, students will perform excerpts from one of Shakespeare's most performed comedies, Much Ado About Nothing. They will learn about Shakespeare's life and theatre as well as what goes into staging a play, including theatre vocabulary and design elements. We will embrace Shakespeare's language with passion and joy in a positive, nurturing environment! Through improvisational games and rehearsing with a script, their confidence with being onstage, handling Shakespearean text and ability to collaborate will grow. Students will perform scenes for their friends and parents at the end of semester presentation.
*This class is open to students of all ages! There is one prerequisite--students must be reading at a 2nd grade level or higher to participate.
