Acrylic Painting Club - 10yrs and up
Unlike watercolor or oils, what’s great about painting with acrylics is that it’s a medium that’s bold, drys fast, and is forgiving of pretty much all “mistakes”.
Even if this is your very first time using acrylic paint. This is the perfect hands-on class for you. Don't be shy, come and bring your creativity and curiosity. Learn and explore what is possible in a safe and supportive environment.
This class introduces foundational skills in acrylic painting, including color mixing, brush control, composition, layering, and texture.
Students will work on a variety of guided projects as well as have opportunities for open-ended creative work. To help guide us through each class I will be using a wonderful reference called Acrylic Workbook a Complete Course in Ten Lessons by: Jenny Rodwell.
Families you do NOT need to purchase this book for your child, I will make copies of each lesson.
Some topics that are covered in the book are:
Brushes and equipment
How to organize colors on your palette and the reason behind it
Big brush painting
Quick mini sketches before painting
Creating form using one color (light and shade)
Shapes and spaces
There are ten lessons in total, but we will work at our own pace. Each lesson is broken down step by step for the very beginner. I will do class demonstrations and give individual guidance with constructive feedback.
My focus is always on the process; this is where the magic and learning happen. Teaching this way allows me to instill confidence in my students and life long lovers of art.
Let’s take a bold and fun painting journey together!

Basic color theory and mixing techniques
