For returning students: we’ll be reviewing some math skills but also adding new math math skills and scenarios.
Math comes to life in this hands-on interactive class designed to show students just how useful and FUN math can be!
Each theme brings a new real-world scenario where
students use math to solve problems, make decisions, and “live” the experience through
role-playing.
From running a mini business to budgeting for toys, students will practice meaningful math skills in situations they’ll actually encounter one day.
We’ll measure, calculate, compare, plan, build, buy, sell, save, and even negotiate.
This class is perfect for active learners who thrive on doing, creating, and imagining. Through the fun team challenges and
partner activities, students will have opportunities for practical problem-solving, confidence-building math practice and real-world examples that make math meaningful.
Some scenarios may include:
- Vacation planning (hotel costs, flights/gas, food, etc.)
- Measuring to “build” a simple project (measuring area and perimeter)
- Exploring how banks work (saving, withdrawals, deposits)
- Learning about credit cards and interest through kid-friendly simulations
- Calculating costs for cooking or baking recipes
- Time & scheduling (creating schedules for a pretend event or theme park)
- Conducting simple surveys and graphing results
Review:
Running your own mini business (pricing items, calculating profit etc.)
Shopping for toys, food or school supplies with a set budget
Figuring out discounts, sales, and tax
Comparing prices to find the best deal
Planning a small event (like a class party) with a realistic budgetStudents will have a stronger grasp of everyday math and the confidence to use it outside
the classroom - whether they’re shopping, measuring, or planning something creative!
