Doreen Philbin

Doreen Philbin holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Southern California. She is a former homeschool mom who left a career in marketing to see her then 3-year-old daughter, Jen, all the way through high school. A member of the original Speakers League club, Jen graduated summa cum laude from CSULB in 2022 and is out making the world a better place, using the skills they learned in Speakers League every day! Doreen was delighted to take over the Southern California Speakers League clubs in 2017 when the program’s founder moved out of state. In addition to working as a writer, Doreen has enjoyed performing and coaching in Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide women’s organization singing barbershop harmony. She and her husband Brian can be found most Fridays hanging with older daughter Becky and their two grandkids, 3 grand-cats, 1 grand-dog, and three grand-chickens. Doreen’s passion is to help students both to enjoy and to excel at public speaking.
