  Based on the book NATURE ANATOMY of Julia Rothman, students will create a Watercolor Science Journal while undertanding the dynamics of Earth and Nature. 

What a great way to combine Science and ART!

In this class we will embark on fun lessons like layers of the Earth, landforms and fossils; the atmosphere, weather and costellations. Volcanoes, rock formations, the deep ocean, the Anatomy of flowers, bees, and different trees around the world.  This book is packed with amazing science conversations! 

 The possibilities of this versatile medium are endless,  students will explore fundamental techniques like washes, blending, color mixing and layering. In this class we will use both pan and liquid watercolors. Which one do you enjoy the most? 

This course emphasizes developing observation skills, experimenting with color, and building confidence in artistic expression.

 

Class Objectives:

• Learn basic watercolor techniques: washes, gradients, blending, and texture.

• Experiment with color theory and mixing.

• Develop fine motor skills, brush control and water control.

• Explore different styles, from realistic to abstract.
